Who Was Luvica Allred? Contact: Gwen Taggart
We have been trying for years to find the parents
of our great grandmother, Luvica Allred (Alredd). We know she had
to have a family once upon a time but who they were ???
The first we know of her, she was living in
Arkansas and her father had been killed during the Civil War. Her mother
was already dead.
She shows up as an indentured servant on the 1870 census. Then next she must have married a man named Jackson. She then marries our great grandfather, William Singleton Welborn (Wilburn) March 11, 1883 in Missouri. He and Luvica had three girls. Minnie Alice Welborn born November 1883; Nellie Welborn born August 04, 1885 and died November 20, 1900; and my grandmother, Eva Lena Welborn born May 16, 1887 in Bloomfield, MO and died in Naylor, MO February 28, 1971. I believe all the girls were born in Missouri around Dexter or Bloomfield. In January of 1887 a tree falls on Willie and kills him. Our grandmother was yet to be born, four months later she was born on May 16, 1887. Luvica then become the housekeeper of Willie's cousin, James Crytes, who had lost his wife, and they later marry. James and Luvica are buried in Bloomfield, Stoddard County, Missouri. Her tombstone gives her name as Vicy Crytes. Does anyone have any information about Luvica or Vicy, as was her nickname.
Thanks, Gwen
