What
Do The Results Mean?
DNA has proven there are 3 different groups
of Allreds, 1 family / group of Elrod and1 family / group of Aldridge represented by our participants.
These Groups are divided below by highlighted color.
Group 1: Beige - Could these men
be the descendants of an Allred woman or adopted child? They are all
related - but how? Who were their ancestors?
Group 2: Light Blue - The largest
group with expected results, descendants of those "original" 4 men who
showed up in NC in the 1750's
Group 3: Green - Mystery Results -
Illegitimate child or Adoption somewhere in the family tree?
Group 4: No
DNA match - but mystery solved.
Group 5: Lavender - Aldridge /
Alldridge
Group 6: Fuscia - Could
this group be descendants of an Allred Female, Catherine Allred? Most
interesting is that
this DNA matches Robbins. Tests and research are ongoing. Click
here to read about this ongoing research.

** Our Most
Exciting Results To Date:
Warren has
traced his family back to William Aldred who was born 1709, died 1779
and is buried at Cross Street Chapel, Salford, Lancashire, England.
Warren's ancestor, William Aldred, came to America in 1794. The most
exciting news is that his ancestors never stepped foot in North
Carolina, yet his DNA is a perfect match to Group 2 of our study!!

Donney's
grandfather, William Alfred Allred, was born in rural Hot Springs,
Arkansas in 1876. No clues about who William's parents were, but the
DNA results show he is related to Group 2 of this Allred DNA Project.

Paper documentation shows he is a descendant of Thomas, but the DNA does
not match! By recruiting other cousins to take the DNA test, Daniel was
able to figure out where the "mystery" child entered his family
tree. Daniel's great-grandmother had been married twice and the 2nd
husband, an Allred, raised the children of that first marriage as his
own. |

Tony
descends from the Northumberland County, Virginia Aldridge / Alldridge
family
which, for many years, many researchers thought the Allred family was
descended from. Tony's DNA results prove that Alldridge and Allred are
two completely different families - unrelated to each other
