Rocky Mountain Allred Reunion Saturday,
June 26, 2010 Allreds
from the Rocky Mountain West and other parts of the country will gather the
evening of June 25 and again on Saturday, June 26, in Spring City, Utah. James
and Elizabeth Warren Allred founded the historical town March 22, 1852. Many
Allreds still live in Spring City and Sanpete County. Friday
evening after 6 pm, Allred cousins will gather around the fire pit to roast hot
dogs and toast marshmallows. Singing and visiting are on the agenda for the
evening. Registration
begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and continues until 3:00 p.m. Registration is
free, but you need to sign in to receive your red packet of family information. By
attending you have opportunities to meet new cousins, catch up on the latest
research news, visit the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum on Main Street and
see what is available on the Allreds. The Friends of Historic Spring City
building (old fire house) is nearby on Main Street. There are city records on
the early Allred families. The
Rocky Mountain Allreds have writers/researchers working on books of the
following early Allred pioneers: You
can talk to the book coordinators and also bring your information. Those
coordinating the Rocky Mountain Allred book project will have tables at the
reunion. A
children’s program is planned that includes lots of fun and some Allred
stories. If
you need hotel/camping information, this is the Web site for Sanpete County: The
families of Bob and Bill Olson will again provide a barbecue lunch. Cost is $5
for adults and $3 for children. For
further reunion information, contact: Larry
Allred
or
Bob Olson Historic Spring City, Utah ForbesTraveler.com
included Spring City in an October 13, 2009, article entitled 20
Towns That Are Picture-perfect. The article includes a photo of the
Orson Hyde home and the old school. The author, Rob Baedeker, listed the
central-Utah town of Spring City, originally a Mormon settlement as a magnet for
artists. The article is on the Friends of Historic Spring City Web site: www.historicspringcity.org.
