ECAFA Meeting Minutes
July 26, 2007
The East Coast Allred
Family Association. Inc., met Thursday, July 26, at 6 p.m. at Best Food
Cafeteria in Siler City.

Linda opened the meeting by
discussing the Techsoup computer software that can be ordered through the ECAFA.
Go to
www.techsoup.org and click on Techsoup Stock for a list of available
software and co-pays (administrative charges). Eddie Allred, Jean LaCoss, Linda
Cooper, Harlan Sexton and Alice Pottmyer have placed orders. Software orders
should be placed through Harlan Sexton with the cutoff time August 5, 2007.
The Allred Family Reunion
will be held September 7th, 8th and 9th. 2007,
at Grays Chapel School, , Old Liberty Road and Highway 22, Randolph County. The
“Theme” this year is Pre-American Revolution.
Friday, September 7, 2007 –
Tour of Historical and Allred Sites in Randolph County.
We will leave from Grays Chapel Church at 9 a.m. and spend the day touring the
county.
Sites include: Original Allred land, stops at several cemeteries, site of one
of the last
Confederate encampment of the War Between The States which took place in
Randolph County.
Tour ends around 6:30 p.m. Lunch and breaks stops along the way.
Saturday, September 8, 2007
– Main Reunion Day – Doors open 9 a.m. 10:30 a.m. – sail
across the ocean on board William Penn’s ship “Submission” in the year 1682.
11:30 –
Welcome Meeting. Noon – Pot Lunch/Covered Dish lunch in the cafeteria. Drinks
provided.
2:30 p.m. – Genealogy Presentations . Displays will be available to view and
enjoy all day long.
Sunday, September 9, 2007 -
Visit Trading Ford on the Yadkin River, site of a
Revolutionary War skirmish in February 1781. Departure time and site to be
announced.

Also discussed is the trip
to the Doctor’s 1840 Village in Hickory open one day a year,
Saturday, October 27th. This village is a re-creation of a town from
the middle of the 19th century.
The annual festival features artisans of crafts of the period. If you plan to
go – Linda will buy your ticket –
she will need your money before October 1st. Tickets $25.00. Details
later.
Discussed briefly was the
reunion for 2008 - perhaps a different location –
Allred/Trogdon Cemetery was suggested. Think about what you would like to do
for the 2008 Allred Reunion.
Next ECAFA meeting will be
Thursday, August 23, 2007, at the Blue Mist Restaurant, 6 o’clock, p.m., Highway
64, Asheboro.
There being no further
business or discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
