July 25, 2002
ECAFA,inc Meeting Minutes

21 members attended this meeting held at S & T Soda Shoppe in Pittsboro, NC.  Linda began the meeting by passing out the travel schedule and estimated cost sheet for the upcoming ECAFA trip to Texas and Oklahoma planned for October 10 - 16, 2002.  Several members signed up to go right away with several more thinking it over.

Discussion then turned to the 2002 Allred Reunion in Randolph County planned for September 6 - 8, 2002.  Flyers were passed out.  Some changes / corrections for the flyers were suggested, then all agreed to help pass them out around the county.  Eddie Clay and Linda proposed that a bus be leased for the Tour of Allred Sites planned on Sunday of the reunion.  Each year, the number of participants in the tour has increased. Everyone travels in their own vehicle, last year causing a caravan of around 30 vehicles, creating safety and traffic problems.  Also, it's very hard to get everyone together at each site so they can hear the stories and presentations.  Traveling together by bus should eliminate these problems.

Each bus is equipped with a bathroom, air-conditioning, and a PA system.  A price has already been obtained from Holiday Tours in Level Cross ($595 for the day) and Eddie will get a second quote from Royal Tours in Asheboro.  Final decision on which company we will use will be made at our next meeting.

Franklin suggested getting one of the 15 passenger vans from White's Memorial Church to follow along behind the bus to help transport any handicapped folks to sites the bus can not travel to (such as the Allred-Trogdon Cemetery).  Everyone agreed this was a good idea.

Linda told everyone that no DNA test results are back yet, but most are expected back at any time.  Information about the DNA project will be in the next AFO newsletter.

After "tweaking" the Reunion schedule some, everyone agreed to meet again on August 22 to finalize all reunion preparations.

Linda reminded everyone to send in their photos and information for the Military Display.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 6pm at Best Food Cafeteria in Siler City.
