ECAFA Meeting Minutes
June 1, 2004

The ECAFA met Tuesday, June 1st, at the old church restoration project at
Sandy Creek Primitive Baptist Church in northeast Randolph County.  The old
church building is being faithfully restored by Hal Younts who was our Guest
Speaker.

Present were:

Linda Allred Cooper
Mildred Allred
Becky Sexton
Harlan Sexton
Dot Allen
Lawrence Allen
Franklin Allred
Donald Joyce
Darrell Allred
Ralph Allred
Mary Ward
Wayne Ward
Sara Allred
Wallace Allred
Hal Younts

Everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch on the church ground, then Linda opened the
meeting.  Plans for the upcoming Reunion in Randolph County, scheduled for
September 9 - 12, 2004, was briefly discussed.  Sara agreed to check prices
of renting Port-a-Johns for Sunday's activities (Picnic at the
Allred-Trogdon Cemetery).

Linda shared information about her trip to Somerset County, PA and visit to
the 9/11 Crash Site of United 93.  A temporary memorial has been set up by
the Somerset County Historical Society and a permanent memorial is being
planned by the U. S. National Parks Service.  Somerset County is also the
final home of Herman Husband.  Husband fled to Pennsylvania after the War of
the Regulation (Battle of Alamance) in 1771.

The meeting was turned over to Hal Younts who shared information about the
history of the church and church building.  Sandy Creek Baptist was founded
in 1755 by Elder Shubal Stearns, making it one of the oldest churches in
central North Carolina.    He explained how he started the restoration
project and all of the research he's done to make sure the restored church
is an exact replica in every way.   Photos and more information about the
restoration project can be found on the AFO web site at
http://www.allredfamily.com/sandycreek.htm .

The next meeting of the ECAFA will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at 6pm at
Dry Dock Seafood in Siler City.
